Default Why does new transmission fluid help so much?

I changed all my major fluids on my car for the first time since i bought it almost a year ago. The car is an 2002 and was very well maintained before me, however i have no idea what kind of fluids were put in before me. My transmission like many had the "click" during low rpm slow shifts while at high rpm never had any issues at all. After replacing the transmission oil with the new honda formula the transmission feels totally different. All shifts regardless of the speed or rpm go in soooooo incredibly smooth and I incredibly happy. I was curious if anyone knows the theory behind this? How does fluid make the transmission not malfunction? Its not broken, so another lubricant should work just as well. Also do those clicks i have been experiencing before induce extra wear and tear on the transmission all those times similar to a grind?

Both my transmission oil and rear diff oil came out perfectly clear with no shavings or anything like that. The diff obviously had a darker color due millions of tiny particles of metal wearing but other than that was perfect. Overall i was very impressed with my oil selections and I greatly thank everyone on the boards recommendations and their how to guides.

I had 68k before I change my Tranny fluid and diff fluid, I didnt really notice a differance, maybe a Tiny bit in the less notchy feeling in shifting. The fluids looked like new after 4 years/68,000miles too

everytime i've changed tranny fluid it has looked good as new also. I changed it again last weekend with the new stuff... felt great the first couple days on cold shifts. Now cold shifts are almost back to what they were before but for the price of it, I think i'll try something new again in a month or so.

allegedly redline tranny fluid doesnt lose that new-tranny-fluid feel, i havent used it by my tuner friend put some in his integra and got rid of his 3rd gear grind instantly, 3 months in still hasnt come back.
