Is this normal?....

I'll be driving along with the A/C on and suddenly it makes this sort of higher-pitched noise... not sure if its a squeal or what. Anyways, sometimes when it does this, i see some kind of smoke or.. well something coming out of the vents. maybe its not smoke, maybe like condensation - sool moist air hitting teh warmer air once it reaches the outside of teh vents - i dont know. It kind of smells too. not a bad smell, just.. a smell. not a fresh air smell. Then it goes away in a few seconds..

This is a brand new car.. any idea what this is??

 

Yes, that is normal if you are driving in a high humidity area. It's just condensation.

 

The noise you hear may simply be the A/C compressor pulley clutch locking in to turn the compressor and may be normal. If in doubt, have the dealer listen to it.
