Default Will 2007 motor work in a 2003 s2000

It's probably a dumb question to ask but can a 2007 motor be swapped into a 2003 s2k? I've looked on google and tried to search on here but haven't found anything and I could use some answers/ suggestions ASAP. Also if so what all would be need to make work? Thanks in advance and sorry for the dumb question. I just don't have much time to search right now and need some quick replies.

very technically is it possible yes, simply no. '06+ motors are set up for drive by wire and have many small things diffrent. i do believe swapping a '04-'05 is very possible with out much modification.

yes but its drive by wire. So its a ton of work to make it fit. You might be better off swapping an 04-05 ap2 engine becuse they are plug in play.

What about a 2007 long block is DBW?

If you retain the intake manifold/throttle body of the 03 surely that takes care of DBW.

You'd also have to use the 03 valve cover and maybe a few other things but if you're just looking to replace the long block I don't see a problem. Even the change from 2.0 to 2.2L shouldn't be an issue. Many have done it.

thank you very much. my friends a mechanic and he located a motor for my car (mines is ticking/rattling) but it's from a 2007 s2000. he said all he needs to do is swap the long block or something like that. basically he said the same thing that auss2000 and i just wanted to verify with the s2000 community since he doesn't do a lot of work on hondas. didn't want him getting it for me and not be able to use it. auss2000 do you happen to know what those other things might be besides what you listed. or does anybody else? Thanks for all your help everybody.

I have a MY2000 so no firsthand experience, but I do know you could check what is involved in fitting a Hondata ECU on a 2006 and later. Should list most of the differences.

But I expect Billman and some of the other mechanics on here will have a better idea.

If you do go with the 2007 motor be sure and get the harness and ecu too. There are a bunch of little issues that will cause big headaches with this swap. I highly recommend you keep looking and find a 2004 or 5 motor.

you cannot use the 2007 cylinder head.

It is not ported for the AIR injection system and you will have a constant CEL.

you do not want the 2007 harness and ECU. use your ecu and harness. The 2007 harness and ECU are not compatible with your car.

And that is why you should ask Billman.
