I recently changed my coolant with Prestone. I had a total brain fart and forgot that the engine needs Type 2 coolant. Am I going to corrode my cooling system, or am I okay? How can I tell if a coolant is safe?

If you full drained the old it will be fine.. it is just mixing that can sometimes create problems. I use Prestone extended life coolant in both my cars.

 

Why did you change the coolant? I believe the owners manual says not to change the OEM fill for 10 years/120K miles. Were you having a problem with your cooling system?

 

I believe the owners manual says to only use Honda coolant because off the shelf coolant can damage the cooling system.
