Some people say that it doesn't change anything about the way the car runs at all, and some others say that the ECU will richen the air / fuel ratio. It will still VTEC.

Unfortunately I can not answer the question, but only add more speculation.

The first S2KCA event at Laguna Seca in Jan 2002, the King Motorsports S2000 was there giving hotlaps... VERY FAST hotlaps...

WITH A CEL!!!

I asked Jason Saini (he drove me around and scared the crap out of me!!! ) about it and he said it was no big deal.

I have actually researched this and can provide you with an answer:

1) The ECU has a list of "A" and "B" items that will cause a CEL.

2) The "A" items will put the car into a quasi safe mode while the "B" items will not change anythins.

3) The CEL from the test pipe throws a "degraded catalyst" code which is a "B" list item.

Bottom line, no it's not affecting performance. But I believe if you speak with cbender you can get a voltage clamp to get rid of the light so if something else causes it you're not unaware.

To add to that...I even dyno'd my car with a broken secondary O2 sensor and it dyno'd just as well as it had previously.

Question on how to turn off CEL with a test pipe, As how black s2000 turbo mention about using cbender or some kind of voltage clamp or something. Dose anyone know how to work that or where I can get more infomation about it. I have a test pipe on my s2000 and I would like to get rid of the CEL. I try a casper o2 simalator and that didn't work at all it made my emmission smell stronger so I pulled it out and wasted $250 for a new o2 sensor I got a casper o2 simalator laying around dose anyone want it??

The Caspers O2 simulator doesn't work on the '01 - '02. Supposedly, the Lake Effect Performance unit DOES work. You can find it here.

Ha, cbender is a board member, Chris Bender. Don't try to buy him.
