Default Windshield Replacement Question

A flying piece of asphalt put a nasty crack in my windshield so I am going to have it replaced. Wondering if I should replace all the associated seals / trim as well. I would like to hear from folks who have windshield replacements - did you get new seals and everything and if not, do you have any issue with water leakage/glass not sealing properly? My insurance will cover the windshield replacement but I would need to order the seals prior to scheduling that if I do need to replace...my car is an 06 as well...not sure if that would make any real difference though. I am leaning towards replacing them anyway just because, but if there really isn't a need to do so then I won't.

Had mine (03) replaced last week...moulding/seals came with the package. No leaks.

The only problem I had was the rear-view mirror clip (attached to the glass) was not the same as the OEM clip,so the clip from the old glass had to be heated (to remove) and attached it to the new glass so the mirror would fit.

The new glass was Pilkington.

Your insurance would cover the cost of the molding, so don't even order one.

had mine replaced last fall, they used a new Honda moulding, nothing else is needed as the rest is sealant. Definitely make sure the new windshield comes with the oem style of mirror button so you don't have to swap them between windshields. Also make sure they use green solar glass that matches the oem windshield.

I'm not sure what other seals you might be referring to , if you mean the rubber seals for the roof that run along the front rollbar they are not normally included in a windshield replacement job. They can be replaced at any time though if you wanted new roof seals, I did mine a couple months ago as I came across a replacement one that was in good condition.

Request OEM Honda glass and seal wherever you're having the repair completed. I've done this previously... I refuse to waste my time with non-OEM glass. I'm sure the glass repair place will give you the song and dance about there not being a difference, well there IS! I've had issues with non-OEM windshields and side window glass.

Based on the responses I won't worry about ordering any seals or anything but will definitely make sure that whoever does the repair uses OEM glass. Thanks for the quick responses!

i just had mine done last month, excellent job in about an hour, truck came to my office nad did it while i watched in theparking lot...replaced the rubber seal and used adhesive to bind. no broken glass...safelite auto glass...i paid my ded...nobody can tell it is not oem unless they get close enough to see the logo...which means you can't tell without the logo...which means it is 100% ok to go with aftermarket imho...they have done other cars for me in the past, again not oem, the cars were fine for years.
I have Safeco and they haved a glass network. the guys truck/van was full of neat tools and even 120 volt plug...he was a real pro.

A majority of us have to pay a deductible regardless... seems pointless to me why NOT get the OEM product and save the possible issues (which I've had) with aftermarket glass. When you schedule the appointment, just let them know you want OEM glass, it will most likely take an extra few days, but it's well worth the wait.

I was told/read in other threads that safelite is great, but the aftermarket trim they use is not OEM quality fitment. I am thinking of ordering the OEM trim and have safelite do the glass replacement. Were you happy with their service otherwise? Did they do a neat job? Removed the old sealant cleanly, friendly, etc?
