Drill a tiny hole and put a grommet in it. That's the easiest way.

That is what I thought. How about the power and ground leads? Any ideas?

Any "switched" hot wire will do.

Don't use the one that is switched with the parking brake. The speedo would only work with the brake on.

IMHO, you should reconsider what you are doing.

It really is SIMPLE (excuse me) to do it like the color picture Modfry posted earlier in this thread. It takes about 5-10 minutes to install. Clean and simple and available to adjust and all. There is a neat channel in the body running along the bottom of the kick panel. After you have the Yellow Box adjusted you can just drop it in there out of the way behind the panel. Too easy?

But from what I have been reading the cel could come on if I do it that way.

No way. Use the wires Modfry pointed out and you are home free. Mine works fine.
FYI, I needed to change the YB 12% to get the speedo exactly on with worn SO2s on 1/2 inch wider wheels.

Here, I cut through some of the extra stuff:

I ran my yellow box off the tranny like xviper showed except I tapped the hot lead in the console for the flasher. I was getting a CEL showing up randomly. It turned out to be an insecure connection in the plug supplied by yellow box...I gave up trying to set my yellow box by mile marker..they aren't accurate..so I took my chart plotter from my boat at set it via gps ...the setting turned out to be either an 8 percent or a 7.75 percent correction not a 10... I've had no problems since I made sure the wire connections on the plug were good...
