Thumbs up YEP...MORE DIFF FLUID QUESTIONS

well, i changed my rear diff fluid around 3,000 miles ago(about 2 months), put in amsoil 75w90. now yesterday, just got some LE607 in the mail and decided to throw that stuff in. my question is, how should the old gear oil that comes out look, atleast for a healthy diff. the fluid that came out was pretty dark, but not black. and there was a little gunk on the magnetic drain plug. this is how the fluid looked when i first changed it, the car was at about 33000 miles, now its at 36000. have never had any problems with the diff what so ever, no wierd noises either. i am a pretty spirited driver. just want to find out what used fluid should look like, even with just over 3k miles on it. thanks for any help.

LOL, yeah, searched, found out that its normal for the fluid to get dark after just a few thousand miles, but i guess i want to know if its no biggie that theres a little grime on the drain plug..

by the way you described it, your diff fluid looks just like it should. it gets dark pretty quick, and as long as there is juts tiny little metallic gunk on your plug, you're fine.

great, thats kinda what i thought...now, is it possible because i put in LE607, there might be less gunk next time due to the fact there might be less friction.

i just changed my diff fluid yeterday and didn't find any metallic things in it. is this normal? that was the first time changing out the diff oi for me at 5200 miles. the oil was black and looked gunky though.

i would think with such low miles, there wouldnt really be any deposits on the drain plug, i'm sure you probably wont start to see anything until wear and tear starts to take place.
