DeRosa and DaveJ, can either of you take some pictures of this button and post them?

Perhaps this is unique to 2008? Didn't work on my '06. They all have a locking latch but no "button." I tried manipulating that latch with no success. Would love to get it to work.

We need the photo but I'm betting it looks like mine.

Yup, that's what mine looks like. I tried the sequence outlined previously...didn't seem to do anything.

There are a few unused pins on the keyless control unit. 2 of them are for LOCK and UNLOCK. You need a female terminal (070 size I think), and put it in the connector. Then if you ground either, the doors will lock and unlock, respectively.

For my project, I only used the Unlock pin to unlock both doors when pushing a button under the dash.

MAYBE if you do the same on the LOCK pin, it will allow you to turn off the AutoLock feature?

Could we please come to a consensus on what 'autolock' means in this context?

Are you guys (who have found a sequence to disable it) talking about the same sort of autolock most modern cars have that locks the doors as you drive the car once you pass a threshold of mph or whatever (that I wasn't awareany version of S000 has), or are you talking about the feature all S2000 have that would be best described as timed relock (since its purpose is to relock the doors if you don't open them within a set time after unlocking, presumably so you don't forget or in case you butt unlocked by accident or something - though admittedly it does lock even if you butt unlocked aready unlocked doors, which I think would still be a stretch to call autolock)?

Please clarify definition of autolock.

Timed relock is all the S2000 has. (And it's not necessarily re-lock as the car need not be locked to initiate the sequence.)

Many cars the past many years will automatically lock the doors when the car is a certain speed. All my Fords have done that the past 20-ish years. I can move the car around in the driveway and the doors remain unlocked. They autolock about 50 feet down the road. The S2000 does not have this feature.

There only thing Autolocking in the S2000 is the the car doors will lock if the (1) doors are closed, (2) unlock is pressed on the remote, and (3) a door is not opened in 30 seconds. That's it. More of a re-lock than lock most times but the car can be locked if the doors remain closed and either Lock or Unlock is pressed on the remote. Instant lock with Lock, 30 second delay with Unlock. Either way the car locks. Keys in your pocket, car in the garage + accidental press of Unlock (or Lock) on the remote in your pocket and the car is locked when you need something out of it.

At present only one (1) member has bypassed this feature without cutting or altering the wiring. He has a 2008 car. No one else (at least in this discussion!) has been able to do it, even another 2008 car.

BTW, I have no desire to disable this feature but remain curious.

Doors locking automatically without direct input.
So actually both threshold and relock cases apply.
I think 90% of my frustration is due to the mph threshold locking. Which I understand is on most modern cars. I also understand it can be disabled on most modern cars.
At least half a dozen times now working in the garage, I've gone to open the passenger door and it's locked. It's a time suck and just frustrating that I'm not in control.

Found some info from Modify. Nothing on this subject, but I like his idea #2 for unlocking both doors at once.

I experience a similar phenomenon to that described by the OP. When I return home and drive into the garage I don't lock the car. Approximately 50 percent of the time when I return to the car the doors are locked. Accidental press of a key on the remote? Not likely, since my habit is to carry the keys into the house in my hand and to place them in a certain position on top of a cupboard. I should note that there are no children or other evil characters residing with us. It is possible that it is somehow related to the door switch which activates the interior lights since I know that mine (both) are in need of cleaning and do cause flickering and varying intensity in the lights. The locked doors are mildly annoying but I have learned to live with it. When I have time I will clean the door switches and then find out if they are implicated in the conspiracy.
