Default ZEX 82021 wet kit and throttle position sensor?

I was looking at the ZEX 82021 wet kit and was curious how it is activated when the S2K has no throttle position sensor?

The 82021 looks for a voltage ramp up to about 4.5 volts to activate as the throttle is pressed to wide open.

The S2000 has a throttle position sensor. It's on the left of the throttle body as you look at it. It's position is indicated by a voltage. My VAFC for example can display it.

Thanks,

Ignorance is bliss. Lol

Could you identify which wire would be used to monitor the voltage rise wrt throttle position?

My ford truck is throttle by wire and the sensor is on the peddle assembly. When I saw a cable on the S2K I thought: wow no TPS!

It's been a while, but I didn't see an answer...

My TPS broke today, so I was fiddling:
Green wire = Ground
Yellow wire = 5V constant
Red wire = varies with throttle position

I used an ohmmeter and the idle reading is 1ohm from the red to the green, it climbed linearly to 2ohms as I applied throttle, then got to the broken part of the range and fell when it should have kept rising.

HTH someone.

Thanks,

I have had the system up and going for many months now.

Seems unusual for the TPS to go out. What were your symptoms?

The usual. Throughout the broken range of the sensor, the engine runs rough, in my case, about 2/3 throttle and above.

A buddy was driving at the time, and very spirited if you know what I mean. For the past year I've been away and the car has only seen a few hundred gentle miles, so maybe it was a shock to the system that caused the failure. It was easy for me to diagnose 'cause the same thing happened to my E30 M3.

I have a throttle body with a bad TPS. Aren't they rivetted on? How do you fix this?

Yeah, it's "rivited" on, but that part doesn't really concern me as I've got a veritable machine shop in my barn. I can cut, weld, rivet, tap and die to my heart's content, but I can't source the TPS alone.

I've read on honda-acura.net that someone is almost positive that the 99-00 Civic Si and the Type R use the same part, but I cannot verify that. I called Honda and they will be happy to sell me an entire TB for $608, or the Type R TB for $706, but I haven't found just the sensor, not even Denso has that part listed.

I'm not as poor as I once was, so I may suck it up and get the OEM TB. Aftermarket units are cheaper, but I want to stay stock. Next stop--the junkyard.

Long story short, there is no "fix", but if I come up w/ something creative, cheap and easy, I'll post it.

The TPS isn't riveted, Honda uses "shear" bolts to hold it on. The head of the bolt breaks off when tightened. You can cut a slot in the head and take 'em out with a screwdriver. Usually, a Honda of the same electronics vintage have identical sensors. For example, TPS out of a 92 Prelude also will work in a 93 Accord and a 95 Legend. So if you have a broken TPS, do some junkyard shopping for Accord thottle bodies. You do have to reset the TPS to its original position, using a ohm meter.
