Annual visit to Atlantic City with a bunch of ex-coworkers on the 27th. We stay over so it doesn’t completely wear Cindy out.

came home and not feeling well. Looking back at when I had a bad case, I think it’s a diverticulitis flare up. So, I’m taking an antibiotic and some Tylenol. Feeling better after two days. Will watch what I eat another day or so.

Gary, if you think it is diverticulitis: Lie on your back, have Cindy push down on your gut just below your ribs and pull back quickly.
If it hurts a lot on your right side, you have appendicitis. If it is tender overall on rebound, you have diverticulitis.
ask me why I know...
If you have any sharp point pain when you think you have it, get to the ER.
You likely just had a perforation of your colon. You have started the process of going septic and will have a fever of 103°F in about 12 hours.
ask me why I know...

Just one of the many ways I would have been dead 200 years ago.

I went to my son's to get my phone this morning in my S2000. I got a speeding ticket on the way. It's my first speeding ticket in Colorado since I moved here almost seven years ago. He said I was doing 70 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to his radar. I have a hard time believing that. It's a two-lane country road that is lightly traveled. He couldn't see me at all when his radar went off. He said it went off and he expected to see a motorcycle but then saw my blue car. He was far away as I didn't even see him until we were quite close and he had his lights on. I watched him do a U-turn so I pulled over when a driveway came up as there is no paved shoulder on the road. In the Description it says "Speeding (20-24 MPH over posted /prima facie limit*)" It says Posted Speed: 40 Charged: 60

I'm tempted to go to court but may just pay.

This morning ^that speeding ticket, that I got on 8-5-2024, worth 6 points on my record was resolved. The case was dismissed by the judge.

I went to court to fight it, finally, and the sheriff was a no-show. I didn't pay any money at all. I also am SO glad I didn't hire the lawyer who wanted $1,500 to represent me.

This now belongs in the good news thread. What a relief!

That is awesome Patty, definitely good news now. When it comes to events like this I often advise people to fight it in court for the sole reason that some officers may not show up. There are many reasons why Police can't make it to court so it is a gamble worth taking. Good work !

I can't find it now but I recall someone had mentioned that their property taxes went up by $126 for the year.
We recently got our tax bill. It went up $221 for the QUARTER.
While more than last year when it was only $34/ quarter, it nowhere near as much fun as when it went up $640/ quarter.
So in 3 years we've gone up just under a thousand bucks / quarter or $4k per year.
Next year should be fun because we get reappraised again.

Ours have gone up about the same (in USD), and coupled with a market crash since late 2021 where we have our rental property it's particularly painful.

Got our utility bills yesterday.
Gas for heat, cooking, hot water and clothes drying. This month $94.00 usage and $216.00 delivery! So over $300.00 for gas this month. Electricity $184.00 Forgot the breakdown. The delivery charges are CRAZY! I opted to pay the gas with a monthly budget amount, so I'm not paying large bills in the winter months. My budget is $113.00 which I'm sure will be adjusted. I'll send a little extra $ when I pay the bill to compensate for the extra usage. It IS quite a bit colder this month vs last January.

We will pay the piper. Neither one of us is willing to sit in the house with the thermostat set lower than 70. It gets adjusted when we are moving about during the day and at night for sleeping.
