I wasn't around in an S2K until 2002, but since then I've enjoyed every mile I've driven in it, both alone and especially with other S2000s. Watching a snake of S2000s along winding roads is one of the best spectacles ever, seeing 300 odd together in So Cal in 2005, and 227 together in Trentino, Italy from all over Europe in 2009, the 10th anniversary of the car, meeting so many members, the site founders and even Shigeru Uehara and the other 3 designers of the car during my tour of Japan have been life enhancing moments.

The S2KI community is something else, long may it strive and continue to bring joy to all our lives

wish i knew about the drive. amazingly, i still have my original t-shirt from 10 years ago. back then, any gathering of more than 20 s2000s was a big deal. glad you all had a blast. i imagine you all didn't perchance reenact the Greg's "moonshot"

In May of 2001 the Utah group was just forming. I did a road trip to Ely Nevada with the second member of our small Utah Community, Mark (aka Yellow S2000). We went to Ely Nevada to support our friend Russ (a fellow Pantera owner) as he was the first S2000 owner to run the Stook (a highly frowned upon term back then) to it's full potential. The event was the Silverstate Classic challenge. 93 miles....public Highway.....no speed limit. The event continues to this day. Russ held a steady 115 miles per hour. At over that speed....held....a unique burning smell occurred. With the help of Wyoming Barry, some time later Honda pinned down the "the 105 smell" to oil starvation and one of the early service bulletins was born (banjo bolt).

Thanks for the memories!!!

Utah

P.S. I love this board...thanks...Eric, Shell, and Kraz....plus the new owners! I went to our Utah Forum, went to last page, scrolled up 9 from the bottom and found our original 2001 thread referenced here. With all the memories....and play by play of that weekend in the desert oh so many years ago.

I'm sorry I missed this! I was on that original drive and would have loved to have driven it again with you guys. I remember helping to plan the original route since I grew up in the Parkton area. I need to pay more attention to to forums. Rick and Jerry, good to see you guys get out there and retrace our steps.

There is talk of this returning next year. We will need to look back at this thread to find some of the "old-timers"
