Make that 1972.
A 3 bedroom home cost $27,000.
Average income was $11,489.
A new Ford cost $3,853.
A gallon of gas cost $.36.
A pound of bacon cost $.96.

That's the year I was married, also. The only difference is, you still are and I'm not. But I went on to meet a better match for me, so it all worked out.

Gas is cheaper now.

1972 gasoline at 37¢/gallon inflation adjusted: $2.22

$1.84/gallon in Richmond today at BP (regular). 93 octane is always 60¢ more at $2.44
