I have started prepping the car and myself.
I need to do some of that this week. Oil change, tranny and diff lube, etc. The time delay may be Costco. I am hoping that in their July sale flier that generally starts on the 9th includes $70 off a set of Bridgestone tires. FWIIW: The last time around Costco was $150 less (with the $70 coupon) per set than any other quote that I had previously. I timed it almost perfectly. After the TomCatt Run, I am almost down to the wear bars on my RE-11's. Not enough for the 5200 mile trip that we have mapped out.
I just ordered four new RE 050's at Costco, today. Did you end up getting your RE-11's there, Matt?

I didn't shop around this time but just ordered them. Bottom line $964.91 including the $70 discount. Prices have gone up.

I had the new "sneakers" installed today. The RE-11A's have been discontinued so I ordered and replaced them with RE71R's. With the $70 off at Costco the total came to $573.20 out the door. According to Looter and Tire Rack the new model (RE71R) is and improvement, and is suppose to handle as well,if not better . Of course, only time will tell. I loved the RE-11's, but the RE-11A's did in fact handle as well and it would have gotten over 16,305 miles out of them. I replaced them after the TomCatt Run because they were almost down to (but not quite) the wear bars. I have NOT REALLY "driven" on them yet. But it will be interesting to see if they are an improvement over the RE-11A's that I LOVED. I guess that the price differential is because these extreme performance summer tires (with no mileage guarantee) will keep a revenue stream for Bridgestone?

(welcome)Matt,
According to the tests,I read, they should provide a little better handlng than the RE-11A,but they will wear faster.
Let us know, how you like them,my Dunlop SS,are nearly,at the end of their life.

Okay, now I'm questioning my order of RE 050s, Matt. I looked at Tire Rack and people seem to like the RE 71's better than RE 050s. They cost less, too. Is that why they like them better or do they perform better? I looked at the reviews but those are people's reviews and not true test results.

Maybe I should start a new thread.

Wait a minute. I think I should be the one buying you a drink. My donation was a drop in the bucket compared to what you've done and are still doing.
