Air Conditioning - one of man's best inventions
We are back from an MG drive to Dubuque, Iowa. Wow, was that a HOT one. Every day in the mid to high 90's and no A/C. Still we had a great time.
I got to spend a good deal of time with David Hobbs. I even shelled out $70 to buy his 300 pg book about his life as a race car driver and tv announcer.

Oh, yeah! A/C is a life saver. I hate being hot.

I did not own a car with working AC until I was 24 I believe (and I grew up in OK and KS). Hard to think about that now that I have gotten used to having it in every car I own! Driving around in 100 degrees with the windows down was just the norm to me back then, along with having a wet shirt wherever I went lol.
I do still drive the S with the top down regardless of temp though, but admit that at lower speeds I am also running the air !

One of our stops was at the Pickers.
I have to give a shout out to my lovely bride. She was on the side of the road and still smiling after waiting 3 hours in unbelievable heat with another lady friend, while we guys tried to find someone to repair a wire wheel flat after his inner tube blew out at a seam. Of course it was on a Sunday when everything is closed and the only MGA that was carrying a spare had left our little group to see a brother hours before and was several hundred miles away. Thank goodness for friendly people in small town America . . . Clinton, IA who came to our rescue with assistance and advice.
We had a nice turnout of MGAs from all over the country for this national meet.
I am certainly glad to be home and have no plans to leave the comfort of my A/C home.

Dave, we are most impressed by this gathering! We are also impressed with Donna's ability to hang in there and keep smiling. I was just wondering the other day how we lived without AC. Yes, I'm spoiled, need AC in the car.
You two rock! The Pickers! That's cool too!

Way cool pics Dave and how many M.G.A.’s were there? Love the American Pickers too.
In regards to air conditioning, I don’t know if others have found this also but my S has the coldest a/c of any car I have ever been in. Even know that it is 16 years old and I have never had to do anything to it, it still pumps out ice cold.

Some high temp days in Colorado today. Even though there’s a spike in temps we’re a bit lucky that late Colorado afternoons and nights cool rapidly and our homes can benefit from opening the windows during the overnight hours. Recently, our inside morning temps with the windows open average about ~ 71-72 degrees and afterwards, with the windows closed, the temps will reach 77 degrees about 2:00 PM- the time to A/C cool the house and car for a few hours.
Do I appreciate air conditioning?…oh, yes I do!
