Default Alaska Vacation

fellow vintage. I haven't been around much over the last few months. I'm either out of town for work or at work. It has really sucked not having a life. So this vacation was really needed .............

Paula and I just returned from a two week trip to Alaska. We flew into Anchorage for a one week land tour. Spent some time in Anchorage then took a train to Denali National Park. A few days later we continued on the train to Fairbanks. Having it as bright as the afternoon at 11:00pm is a weird thing. We tended to stay up really late because it seemed so much earlier than it really was.

After Fairbanks we flew back to Anchorage and boarded a cruise ship in Whittier. We sailed south to Vancouver. Along the way we stopped at College Fjord, Sitka, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchican. I can't say it was all that physically restful but it was very beautiful and mentally relaxing. You can view some of our pictures in my Alaska album at the following:

Nice pics. Sure looks like a beautiful place.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Three of my sisters went on a two week land/sea trip to Alaska and loved it.

Great pics! I need to learn to use my new digicam before our trip to New Zealand in 8 weeks....

Wondering how my 10x optical zoom would have worked with the Eagle and Bear/Salmon shots....

New Zealand .... I'm jealous! Always wanted to go there. A 10X optical zoom would have been very nice. I have a little Nikon Cool Pix 995 with a 4X optical zoom.

Have a great time in New Zealand and take lots of pics!

Some great pics. I especially liked the curved train and the 1st bear shot where it just a dark shadow. Naturally the scenic ones were all cool too. My wife has been nagging me for years to do that -- I am a WARM weather vacationer. But I am considering giving in to Alaska in '07........... notice I said considering.

Alaska wasn't Paula's first choice. Like you she is a warm weather vacationer, lounging on the beach in Cabo is her idea of a perfect vacation. She admits that she loved Alaska and had a great time. She did say however that our next vacation is going to be to a warmer climate.

Great photos. My son and I went last year on Princess Cruise Lines Land/Sea Tour. We flew to Fairbanks, doing the train through central Alaska, with the cruise on the inside passage, and debarking in Vancouver. It was a great 15 days.

PEACE and safe

Those were some very pretty photos, Dave. Thanks so much for sharing them. Andy always talks about going to Alaska but I didn't think I wanted to until I saw your pictures.
