Am I Nuts? and Advice Requested
Patty,
I've taken the southern route before. It's not as flat as you would think except through the Texas panhandle. I've also driven across on I-70 through Denver. That IS a lot flatter through Kansas and Nebraska. The northern route might be quicker due to the lack of traffic and increased speed limits.
added: I finally voted and as an aside, I would give myself 5 days instead of 4.

Patty,I think that you should go for it and take your time on the way back (Re: Rob's comments) perhaps stopping to see your sister and other places along the way. I am a bit envious that you have the luxury of doing this. I have always wanted to drive coast to coast and have yet to do it. Although, I have been coast to coast at over thirty-thousand feet perhaps hundreds of times over the years, I still yearn to drive it.
One of our "goals" is to drive US Route 50 (one of the remaining highways that goes from coast to coast) when we retire and have the time to do it in a Class A motorhome trailering our S for the "fun stuff". "No Interstates "R" Us" on that trip.
In fact, on our way home from the Buckeye Run we are planning to take RT50 home from Marietta, just for the experience. Rt 50 passes just north of our house by about five miles.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the "Buckeye Run", and you will not have to complain about that "dam* rental car".

Matt,
You really need to try US 60 through WV and VA. A great road for the S.

Did you mean US RT 50? I do not recall seeing a RT 60?
But George (gfacter) who laid out the route for SF05 mentioned to me that RT 50 in western WV is a great road and fun for an S2000. That is why I planned to come back home that way.
Looking forward to seeing you again. I hope that you took my comment at SF05 in the light that it was intended "as a joke"?

Patty,
It sounds like you'd really like to do this. If you enjoy the time alone in the car, and on the return have a visit with your sister to look forward to, the time should pass quickly.
I don't have the best sense of direction, I'm "geographically challenged", so I don't think I'd attempt it, but I think you are more daring than I am.
If your doctor says it's OK, and doesn't think it will aggravate your back, I'd say go for it!
