OK Lainey: Without looking at a map which direction is Ohio from you? N,S,E, or West?

Patty,
It sounds like you'd really like to do this. If you enjoy the time alone in the car, and on the return have a visit with your sister to look forward to, the time should pass quickly.

I don't have the best sense of direction, I'm "geographically challenged", so I don't think I'd attempt it, but I think you are more daring than I am.

If your doctor says it's OK, and doesn't think it will aggravate your back, I'd say go for it!

If your doctor signs off and you are up for doing it physically and you don't I think that you are missing a great opportunity that many of us would love to be in the position to do. I wish that I could have that option.

Patty: Do you feel the guilt trip yet?

I've gotta agree on the back issue. I could feel it in mine after driving back straight through from SF. About 570 miles. At least get a back pillow for your lower.

and Matt, of course. The only thing that I take any offense to is intentional cruelty to children, old people and animals.

Patty,

I'd forgotten all about your back problem. Now I think that your trip home will be not only long, but uncomfortable too. Especially if you have to do all of the driving.

I don't mean to be the naysayer, but I'd think twice about this.

Matt, me, feel a guilt trip? As the kids say, "don't be a hater". Should I try not to rub it in when I see you. And maybe tell you how really awful it was, and it rained a lot, and it was Really boring...

Rob, you are probably right. Flat straight roads are so boring. That was one of my worries too, but I will do it alone whatever I end up doing.

I will take notes from these posts to help me figure out what to plan.

Does anyone know good places to hotel it for the night on either route? Or towns to avoid hoteling it in on either route? Or towns with speed traps on either route? Or like Tom said, places to avoid?

Chaz, thank you for fixing my screw up. That is the second time I've attempted a simple poll and messed it up. I guess I should go learn about them first before I attempt it again.

Jerry, what the heck are you talking about this time. We need a paS2K translator.

I hate to agree with one of Rob's suggestions but you really should consult with your doc about this plan

no.....I didn't mean Elmer Fudd (You know.....Bugs Bunny to EF: "What's Up, Doc?" )
