"Mr Remodeler, what would like for your new countertop material? Engineered stone, granite, ceramic tile, stainless steel, laminate, solid surfacing, concrete, or wood?" Huh?? I'm not sure. "Well, wise up stupid. The price can be $10 sq ft or $160 sq ft. So what do you want?" I don't know. I think I'd like dark cabinets. "Are you stupid or what? What cave have you been living in? That's 1950!" Oh, sorry. "Don't you watch the Home & Garden channel?" No. I watch hockey games. "That explains it."

Liz and I are eclectic (maybe eccentric is a better word) when we see something that catches our fancy, we buy it.

In our loft in the city we had a church pew at the base of a brick wall. On the wall we had family photographs of four generations of our families. Some going back to China in Liz's case and Europe in mine. Next to that was some old stained glass we found at United Homewrecking.

Now that we're out in the suburbs we're pretty much the same way. We buy pieces that we like, use colors that we like and really don't adhere to any one style. I don't think we have a "set" of anything.

The house is craftsman. Windows are Douglas Fir as is the interior wood trim. No wall paper and Maple floors.

We decided to use three interior colors. The main living area (great room, kitchen, nook, dining room, hallways, laundry room, third bath and Deb's sewing room/office are Kelly-Moore "Prickly-Pear" which K-M has listed in their "Cool" colors brouchure. With the exception of my office/media room, the rest of the house; master and guest bedrooms and baths are K-M "Creme de Cocoa" (considered "warm" by K-M). The Media room is a dark green K-M "Moss Green".

The furniture is pretty much all shaker in Maple.

Kitchen countertops are a product called Richlite. It is a combo of paper procucts and resin. It looks like honed black granite. The kitchen island is a 4'X9' maple butcher block.

No window coverings except for the media room.

Exterior color is "Shaggy Barked" which I choose because I liked the name. The trim is Suguaro and Navajo White.

Sounds nice, Bob.

My kitchen color on the lower half of the dining area could be described as Hot chocolate color, or cocoa. I also have some green in the house. A sage green in the bathroom.

I don't mind color on my walls, be it wallpaper or paint, but it can't be too loud.

Your countertop sounds interesting. Post a pic if you can.

Living in Phoenix, our house has a definite southwestern feel to it. The living room is painted a light warm yellow, we have light oak wooden floors and our fireplace is marble with a custom southwestern style mantle. That end of the room is balanced by a large music/stereo/curio cabinet at the other end that is a Santa Fe style and has the same finish as the mantle

The whole front of the house is floored in 18" porcelain tile with marble accents. The tile runs into the eating area and kitchen. The rest of the house has light oak flooring.

The dining room is the same color as the living room, and the dining room set is an old semi-mission style. In other words, it is a dark walnut that (if one does not look too close) resembles mission style.

The kitchen has all new white applicances with granite counter tops (slab) and the walls are a cross between a dark chocolate and milk chocolate. We also put granite counter tops/accent pieces in other parts of the house. We went with an electric range top but it is one of the heat/light types rather than the type that has calrod burners. It has almost the response time of a gas stove, but we didn't have to plumb in new gas lines.

The house itself is stucco with a tile roof over the center of the house and flat roof everywhere else. The walls are painted a light mud brown color and the trim is some form of green. (don't ask me - I'm color blind).

It is approximately 3000 sq. ft on a one-third acre plot in the 'burbs. The best part - a HUGE 3 car garage. The problem is that it is so hot that you can't use the garage at all during the summer. We've seen temperatures of 130 F in the garage in the middle of the summer. Most of the garage is lined with storage cabinets.

The kitchen would not be happy if I just snuck up and took a picture out of the blue. It would be kinda like waking Deb up with a flash in her face.

I'll do a quick steam cleaning and come back with a shot or two.

I just remembered that I have a disk full of house pictures so I don't need to do any cleaning (yet).

I should have posted this in the "Where Do You Pee? thread and no, not in the bidet. Actually, the "how to" video that came with the bidet was a bit hard to follow since I don't understand much French, but the visuals were self explanatory

My favorite room in the house - The walls are the "Prickly Pear" color

Why doesn't he take pictures of people?
