Default Any suggestions what is causing this?

These tiny specs, like wood chips, are constantly are falling on my work bench almost directly below the exhaust pipe for my hanging gas heater. Because code require the heater have dry wall above it I can not see above it. Carpenter ants, maybe? I have ant poison traps but they haven't stopped anything.

I was going to suggest carpenter bees, I deal with them quite a bit. They tend to make a lot of sawdust, perhaps different than bigger wood specs we see , not sure though , it could be possible ? They drill the most perfectly round holes in wood , it always amazes me how perfect they are, as good as any drill bit I've used. Very talented species.

I started to have a carpenter bee problem until I made and put up traps. Problem solved!

We have a little problem with carpenter bees on our deck, too.

We just put up a trap.
