So...if I just show up with the helmet Jerry's going to finance with no intention besides driving the car better what class would I be in? The rule book reminds me of the healthcare bill.

It's really asking why the Boxster/ Cayman do not DO very well in autoX, but NOTE that there is a good bit of chatter (esp on page 1) that praises the S2000's ability. How many times does THAT happen on a Porsche website....
I run 3-4 auto-x events per year, here in SC. At the last one at BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, SC, a Cayman S on r-compund tires had FTD for any of the Stock classes. We always have a good turnout of S2000's, but we do not dominate, even with the good drivers (not a group I qualify for).

The lack of low-end torque hurts the S on the courses we run here, but the outstanding chassis can make up for that in the hands of a skilled driver.

Run "Novice" for the first couple of events and ask for help figuring out what class you should be in. I would guess SSM or STR.

I like the fact that I've started a popular thread that's moved into an area (one of many) that I know NOTHING about

Hey, I've even learned a tiny little bit by reading the good posts

so here's a question.
I lost my novice virginity some 30 years ago.
if I recall correctly once you win in novice that bumps you up into class.
After 30 years can I go back and compete in novice agani?

Will anyone remember you? Let your conscience be your guide.
