If his quote from the hip is right, he'd be working right now.
I assume you're in the dark due to the aforementioned chandelier situation. Have you moved the cherry table? Sorry, couldn't resist.

so file this under the gee no rush category.
This weekend we finished the wall paper in the master bath which finally closes out the epic of the shower repair.

long story short....
when the idiots built the house they put a mud floor in the master shower.
Generally this is a good idea and they last a long time.
that is unless your local GC idiot puts wall board over the membrane and then nails through it below the level of the mud.
Over time said nails corrode away leaving a nice little holes in the membrane and hence the water dripping through the chandelier
During Xmas a few years back I got ambitious and smashed through the tile and mud.
The subfloor had to be rebuilt. The tops of the joists had a little water damage that made leveling them a "true" joy.
Replace the plumbing and the shower pan. KBRS preformed pan, fiberglass shell over foam core.
Tiled it over with 1 inch boring beige tiles.
Installed entirely new mixing valve since the old one decided to snap off when I was removing he handle.
Replaced the walls with wedi board which is impervious to water.
The shower finally got with a Corian floor to ceiling shower wall kit and a custom corian sill.
Lastly finally got around to finishing the walls over outside of the shower for the transition to normal walls.

Wallpapered this weekend and installed new light fixtures.

some procrastinators aren't lazy, they just want perfect and it gets in they way of getting things done.
Sometimes Perfect just takes long time.

You did a lot. Did my repair experience in the guest bath spur you on? I'm very good at organizing/running projects that involve other people doing the work, but procrastinate on many things around the house that depend on my efforts. Very bad habit. To paraphrase Scarlett in Gone with the Wind - "I'll think about that tomorrow."

Big job! Have you ever thought of wintering down south and taking on a side job or two doing remodeling? LOL

AH you're all confusing the what I HAVE to do with what I LIKE to do.
although i could be the perfect home contractor.

I show up. look at it for while and go away.
I'll come back and do some destruction and rip everything apart and then go away again.
after a few months I'll come back and do some new rough framing and go away and order some stuff.
after a long while I'll come back and install some stuff and go away again.

then when you nag me enough I'll come back and do some finish work but not all of it and I'll go away again.

eventually I'll do the last of the finish work because I have to start that other project for you.

next up will be replacing all over he kitchen windows.

Jerry this is a great post!

Of course, I'm very glad you are not my general contractor or my husband when it comes to home repairs!

We find it much easier to pick up the phone and shell out the $$$$ for home repairs. Probably, in some ways, less painful too. No ER trip required because someone hammered their thumb instead of the nail.
