Both, in the winter for convenience I use the gas grill. But anytime I have a choice it's charcoal. No beating the wood smoked flavor- just don't use lighter fluids (It's like eating out of the S's gas tank in comparison)

Our grill is hooked up to the house gas. Though I prefer charcoal, the convenience can't be beat. Never any tanks to fill, no waiting for the coals to heat up, barely any cleanup. It's so convenient, I've used the grill during a snowstorm a couple of times.

We use a Weber propane year round. We had natural gas at our prior house. I couldn't tell any difference. I think the best flavor comes from charcoal but I got tired of messing with that a long time ago. Frankly we grill as much for convenience as anything else and never got into doing anything fancy.

^^ I use a little box, place the chips in the box and after soaking them in water for a period of time, put the box on the grill until it begins to smoke nicely and it gives a nice woodsmoked flavor to the food.

Beer can chicken. Tender, juicy, and tasty.

Check it out. I'm not making this up. Here's one source for the basic can holder.

take it a step further and inject lemon juice and white wine into the chicken the day before.
