I loved them as a kid.

I wore the "Beatle Boots" and played air guitar, before there was a name for it.

I grew up with them and their albums. When they split up, I was really bummed.

Their music, especially Revolver, SPLHCB and Abby Road, is historic.

Sorry, but I never want to hear anyone else try to be a "cover" band for/of them. Some folks have done nice interpreratations (SP) of their tunes, but most just butcher them.

I watched "Across the Universe " a while ago due to the recommendations of folks on the forum. Hearing the tunes performed with modern instruments, different voices, and sometimes different arrangements brought home just how timeless the melodies are.

The Beatles rule!

It is also playing in the background on CBS' Sunday Morning!

I'm reminded of the way I was introduced to the Beatles. During the summer in which Beatlemania spread over the entire world, I was working as a naturalist at a state park in West Virginia. I was playing the role of a backwoods hillbilly, and playing it to the hilt, because that's the kind of park it is, and it was like living in some third world country, totally isolated from the rest of the world. First day back in Georgia I got together with a group of frineds, and it wasn't long before one of them asked me what I thought of the Beatles. Hahaha, I wanted to know what kind of beatles he was asking about, because some beatles are pretty cool, but pine beatles suck.

Everyone had a big laugh, then one of the guys threw a dime in the juke box and put on one of their early songs. Then when the music started half the people in the place started going nuts, either singing along, trying to act the way the Beatles acted on stage, or both, and it all struck me as one of the stupidest things I'd ever seen. How the heck did all my friends get so screwed up in only three months? This darm music was too simple for my tastes and I didn't even like it, at all, and they were all acting like they were some kind of holy rollers.

Hahaha, yea, my first exposure to the Beatles left me totally unimpressed. Funny how wrong first impressions can be sometimes.
