Beer
I can definitely see legal troubles coming from that as I believe the establishment is still responsible. Have known of a couple of bars sued or charged due to incidents after a clearly drunk person continued to be served. I ran development of a system that is used for tracking the amount of beer dispensed for inventory purposes, and I recall them talking about not really wanting to approach automated dispensing due to worries like this.

Yeah I thought about maybe the system could make a bartender come check every x number of pours, but that does not seem super foolproof. And someone could come in already drunk and that would not be accounted for. Maybe they just train their staff to keep a close eye on people as they come up and serve themselves. The whole thing of the bar having to do this is tough to start with. Some people show their drunkeness a lot less than others so always a risk I guess.

Other than someone drunk before they started I think it would be easy to monitor and shut off.
