The Best Revenge
I received this from a friend and I have no idea of whether it's actually true. But maybe some of you sports car buffs know if it is or not.
Lamborghini is basically a tractor company. What caused them to start
making cars is a very interesting story.
Mr. Lamborghini bought a Ferarri some years ago, and at that time there
was a design oversight in the rear axle. Mr. Lamborghini being into
gears, differentials and the like from his tractor work, tore the axle
apart and made some parts to correct the weakness. Thinking that he was
doing Enzo Ferrari a favor, he sent a copy of the drawings for the
correction to Ferrari.
Enzo was insulted and replied to him saying something to the effect that
he didn't need a tractor maker to tell him how to build race cars.
So, Mr. Lamborghini evidently believed that if you can't get ahead, get
even and built a Ferrari butt kicking sports car of his own.

If this is a true story, that is fantastic! Thank you for sharing. Steel sharpens steel. Enzo's loss is gain for those who can afford Lambos.

I do believe that story is true, I think I saw it on a Ferrari history show. There's some other cool stories too if I remember right. Sports car rivalrys have been around as long as cars have. I wonder if International Harvester ever built a prototype sports car? They build trucks.
I know when I lived on the ranch and we were snowed in, the mailman would come in a Co-op tractor with a Pontiac rearend and a road gear. He could hit 45 mph.

I don't know if the story is absolutely true or not, but I do know that Lamborghini is indeed a tractor company, and I remember that there was some friction between Enzo Ferrari and Mr. Lamborghini so that Mr. Lamborghini decided to go into the sports car building business to show Enzo a thing or two.
I have lusted after Lamborghini's ever since I saw my first Countach S in the Bay Area (CA) about 20 years ago.
Someone here in Scottsdale has a Gallardo (white) that I see driving around every once in awhile.
Best of all, I saw Jenna Jameson climb out of a Bentley about 2 months ago. Yes she was driving it. I was thinking "Oh look a Scottsdale trophy wife driving a Bentley", until I recognized her (don't ask me how I knew it was her).

Earlier this week I was following a black Diablo VT in rush hour traffic - man, did that thing rumble! He gunned in through an underpass and it drowned everything out! The S is pretty low, but I could see under his wing and through part of the windshield.

I've heard the same of how Lamborghini got started, and it sounds possible.
Strange coincidence that the "Apprentice" show last night (with Donald Trump) was to come up with a 30-second video ad with a print package for the Lamborghini. The women's team beat the men's team.

Those Top Gear Brits might not think the latest Gallardo has the soul of a Lambo, but I think it's fabulous. I couldn't care less about the LSD doors.
I'd really love to drive one someday.
