Default a bit of a rant.

I'm sure that everyone has read about the Charles Kinsey shooting in Miami. ( the unarmed black behavioral therapist trying to attend to his patient. )
I've ranted about the need for more training in police departments for dealing with folks with mental impairment.
I guess I have to sit back and wait this one out. I'm just on the edge of my seat to hear what they come up with as a story for this one.
I get it, cops don't have an easy job.
but come on what happened after the shooting is the part that is scary.
they cuff the therapist after they shoot him.
they cuff the autistic kid and leave him in the back of the cruiser for a couple hours....
WTF?????? really folks?

Kinsey asked the cop "Why did you shoot me?" Response, "I don't know."

Cop was on the SWAT team and was aiming at the autistic guy. Fired three shots....missed with the first two and then hit the wrong guy.

I am not even sure how that is possible, but that appears the be the company line.

Oh... It's entirely possible. As I've mentioned before in other threads I've been at times years ago a range safety officer at two ranges that allowed police departments to train/qualify their personnel. I've been present when an officer shot himself in the foot withdrawing his firearm from it's holster [just a graze but his shoe was toast]; put a hole in the roof of an indoor range [the bullet landing somewhere in the town]; and watched a SWAT team officer fire a full-auto burst of about 8 rounds over the backstop of an outdoor range [those bullets either ended up in the Delaware River or in North Philadelphia Pa]. And those instances were not in very stressful conditions. Under stress accuracy tend to go to hell.

But I've also witnessed some unbelievably accurate shooting by officers.

My son in law is a cop with 18 years service. He has never had to pull his weapon on anyone. Lucky, but he is a cool dude who prefers to negotiate first to access the situation. I cant wait for him to retire. Too much violence out there and I fear it is only going to get worse. Too easy to buy assault weapons. This incident makes me sick and so have some others. Scary to see the lack of training mentioned especially in todays world.
