Black Friday
With all of the advertising and stores opening as early at 5 A.M. ( 
) I'm curious how many vints partake in this ordeal. I don't understand stores opening so early -- what won't wait to be bought until 9:00 or 10:00 A.M.? I'm definitely one that would rather have bamboo shoots implanted under my fingernails than get out in that mess on Friday! My Friday shopping will be on-line.

No shopping for me. I know you truly can find some bargains, but I need/want NOTHING that would make me want to fight with those crazy people.

I'd rather be sent through one of those tree branch grinders than be around ANY retail establishment on Friday. Or anytime between now and January 15th when the "returns madness" concludes.

Well, fwiw, WalMart started these sales early this year. Two weeks ago I went to Wally at about 6:30, stood in line for an hour and a half, and came home with a pretty nice lap top for $348 and an HD DVD player for under $99. I figure I saved around $300 to $400 depending on where you buy similar items. This really wasn't for Christmas, just some things I needed/wanted. I had the day off anyway, so no biggy, but even if I was working that day, I could have been in the office by 9:00 AM without any problems.
Black Friday is a different story. I have heard people will get to the store the night before and camp out to be the first in line to get the deals. I would not do that.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. My daughter has left here at 4:30 in the morning to hit some of the deals in the past and gotten a lot of nice freebies and bargain deals, but I don't like to go shopping anytime, let alone when a bunch of crazed shopaholics are loose.

I did it once a few years back with some of the other NE guys
we got to the store at 11:00 pm and it was cold!! but we had the grill going and of couse some whiskey the place was crazy by 5:00 am - i wont do it again

I hear that people actually fight each other sometimes for the sale items that they have stood so long in line for. I wouldn't want to get hammered or bitten by someone for an electric can opener!
