Black Friday
Had a mess at the local Wall-Mart Fri am. Store opened at 5 am, transformer outside of store blew shortly thereafter causing store to loose power....state police had to be called in to help prevent the looting as appx 1200 people had to exit the store. Power was restored about 45 min later. I'm glad I stayed home.

I did not do any shopping on (Black) Friday, nor did any of my children, basically there was nothing (else) that we needed. However, my wife and I did stop into a store on Sunday just to have a look. What we found shocked us. We saw signs for "50% OFF" or higher all over the store. But when we check the prices, it APPEARS that the prices have been jacked up, sometimes significantly. My wife looked at some items that she bought recently and she remembered how much she paid for them, and the current prices were much higher than that. So after the discount, there is a small saving (compared to the old price), but it is no bargain. Did anyone else noticed this practice at your local stores?

JC Penny kids' clothing. A shirt I bought for my grandson was "originally priced" at over $16.00. I would never give them $16.00 for that shirt, he's only two!
I agree, they marked it up to mark it down.
..black friday black friday black friday......you never heard that term used in such abundance until the major retailers decided to invent a BUYING DAY.
Of course they prepare for it. They've gotten you to believe in Black Friday and most of all act on it. They've spent millions on marketing it.
Now they're working on Cyber Monday.
EVery year people bitch about "Where's the Christmas Spirit"? Well The Christmas Spirits now called Black Friday and everyone in the US suckered for it.
There may have been a "Black Friday" accounting term at one time because accounting and buying proceedures weren't automated. Hand books take awhile. Today a push on a keyboard tells you everything. You can rework your marketing plan instantly.
Don't buy until the last week if you're truly looking for bargains
