Pretty sure one of our armored cavalry troops transported a young woman having a breech birth to a hospital on the back deck of a tank (probably a M48A5). Swung the main gun over the rear deck and put a 12x12 tarp over it for shelter for her and the medic. She probably fitg in an Evac Sleeping Bag. Roads were drifted shut so the tank went cross country much of the distance. Caused some excitement at the ER entrance even though they'd been alerted.
In the spring I was sent as survey officer to determine payment for all the fences that were smashed. Standing next to them the typical good ole Ohio farmers noted [insert straw in mouth accent here] "No damage here, son."

^ Wow. That house that was ripped in half was not something you see every day.

If I recall correctly a street with houses in Scituate ceased to be after the storm.
It had run along the beach.

At the time, I just turned 9 and was living in North Providence, RI. I didn't see my parents for a week. First couple days, it was just me and my sister. We then went over to our neighbors house.
The Honda QA50 that I got for my birthday was literally the only transportation our street had that entire week.
