Bombs at the Boston Marathon!
#21
Thanks everyone. We were fine, but things were very confusing and there was a real sense of danger in the minutes following the blast. The building I am in is about a block from the second blast and a block and a half or two blocks from the first blast. Certainly less than a five minute walk from our front door to the first blast. The trains were running fine, but the subway had restrictions. Today we are open and my office is almost at full strength. I am sad to say that many other people did not come into the city today. My train was half empty. I hope people come in later today. The only way we can fight back is to live our lives while thinking of those who were directly impacted and hoping the perpetrators are quickly brought to justice.

"The explosives used in the deadly Boston Marathon bombing were contained in 6-liter pressure cookers and hidden in black duffel bags on the ground, a person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
One of the explosives contained shards of metal and ball bearings, and another contained nails, the person said.
A second person briefed on the investigation confirmed that at least one of the explosives was made out of a pressure cooker. Both spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
These types of pressure cooker explosives have been used in Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, according to a July 2010 joint FBI and Homeland Security intelligence report. One of the three devices used in the May 2010 Times Square attempted bombing was a pressure cooker, the intelligence report said."

I've refrained from posting in this thread until I could get myself under control but first of all LB - I'm glad you and yours survived relatively unharmed - though I'm sure not unaffected.
It makes me so angry that there are people in this world (homegrown or foreign) that would kill innocents in pursuit of some political point.
It's both cowardly and despicable.

Belief now is the attacks are domestic terrorism, perhaps related to April 15 tax deadline and/or Patriots Day.

Hearing now that significant progress has been made in the investigation. No report yet as to what that means.
