Emil, it's engineers.

I was at the gym last night and all the news channels had that playing over and over.

In the US we have thousands and thousands of bridges that are approaching 40 years old which have stress cracks in the steel and cement. In addition to aging, clearly they were not designed for the amount of traffic and weight of the vehicles we have today. The estimate I heard tonight to bring this all up to proper form is $35 Billion dollars. My wife and I drove over that bridge several times in the S2000 back in 2001.

Last time I drove over that bridge was in 1978. Missed the collapse by 29 years. It's amazing that more people weren't killed. So far 5 confirmed and a few more then that missing.

That was quite the mess. Did they get the overpass repaired?

They demolished it,and built a new one, wich is now in operation.
They are now checking,165 similar overpass, for safety.

Went for a drive in the "S",in the countryside, this afternoon, with my +1 one,and each time,we came to cross an "OLD" bridge, you should have seen the look on our faces...

We were always thinking the same thing, and said it out loud;"Let's Hope that Fr*****g thing"is solid...

Sad and I'm sure terrifying for those people. I am proud of those people though for how they dealt/and are dealing with this misfortune.
