I really feel like I can't wait to perform some more "informational picketing/leafleting" at the front door of our local Slave Mart (you know, the business that will be taking approximately $75 million per year from this community [Palmdale, California] without having to pay a so much a single penny in local taxes for the next ten years.)
So, too, do I really feel that since I am able to afford an S2000 as a second, indeed a third vehicle, then surely I can afford to avoid SlaveMart. Hint, hint.
Are you the same guy I used to see at the grocery store picketing the lettuce?

Anyone have any comments on the "EP" (extra protection) Mobil 1 that's been out there for several months? I think it's all nonsense and just a way to jack up the price, but I was wondering...
Chaz,

I don't know anything about "Extra Protection" Mobil 1, but I think if you are changing your oil regularly regular Mobil 1 should be more than sufficient. Personally I think it's probably a come on.

The "extra protection" Mobil One has a longer drain interval. Of course, you would still have to change your filter as per the regular or severe maintainance schedule.

BITSA,

I don't like Wal-Mart either but lets face the facts, why aren't they paying any taxes? Is it because that is the deal the town made to seduce them into opening a store? If so, the town, not Wal-mart, should be receiving your wrath (at least as far as the tax issue goes).

Yes, I do.

I posted a while back but no one ever responded.

If I remember correctly, when Mobil 1 first came on the market there marketing statement was that one could go 10,000 miles between oil changes. Does anyone else remember this as well.

I find it interesting now that there are three "flavors" of Mobil 1?

Hell, I remember when there was only one "flavor" of potato chips!

While I am *NO* expert on oils...and therefore can only provide anecdotal evidence/experience. I use to use AmsOil regularly. Their synthetics had a variety of flavors as well (5K, 15K, and 75K I believe were the flavor intervals). Seems Mobil 1 has simply bought into this same thinking/marketing. Perhaps there's something "extra special" about each flavor than the other.

As for me...I still changed my synth at 5K intervals. I just like the *thought* that that same fluid was good enough to pull longer duty if I desired. But since the oil filter had to be changed...I always changed it all out...and called it a $35 investment every 5K miles.

"A" SlaveMart? There are now no fewer than six SlaveMarts in Lancaster and Palmdale (four "regular" SlaveMarts; one Sam's Club; and one Super SlaveMart). By the end of next year, yellow2k, there are to be yet two more "Super" Slave Marts in the greater Lancaster/Palmdale area. Lucky us.
For your edification, Lancaster's current population is 133K. Palmdale's current population is 136K. And QuartZ Hill's population is currently around 20K. By 2015 the combined population of Lancaster and Palmdale is expected to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 600K. Forgotten indeed.
