We had the same type of butterfly in the yard today. I contemplated going in to get the camera, but was in the middle of several bags of mulch. Maybe tomorrow.

We have only had one Humming bird so far this year and two nights ago I saw the first lightning bugs of the season.

I really want to see lightning bugs again before I croak. I saw them once when Jerry and I went to Nebraska and they were enchanting to me. I never thought I had a bucket list but fireflies and Northern lights could start one.

I'd put some in a glass jar for you but they wouldn't make it across the country in time unless Jim (S1997 was driving).

I did take some lightning bugs in a glass jar to my grandkids in California. They survived the trip and lighted for them a bit before flying away. They are a wonderful summer event. We live in a woods and I am building a treehouse this summer. I will be up in the middle of the lightning bugs and hopefully above the mosquitos which reportedly only ascend to 9 feet.

Did you drive with the lightning bugs?

I think my fascination with fireflies is because of this book from my early childhood days:

Sam and the Firefly

I flew. lightening bugs had some anxiety about altitude, but I talked them down.
