Default CD burning

I need to update the firmware in my HT preamp/processor and the update is a zipped .wav file. To install it, the .wav file has to be burnt to a CD-R as an audio CD so that it can be played as an audio CD on a standard CD player. I ain't never done this kind of stuff before and I really don't want to brick my preamp. Would someone clue me in on how this is done and what the best software (preferably for Mac) is to use for this?

You should be able to do that iusing whatever standard CD burning software came on your machine. When you check the burn options on your software, you should be able to select Audio CD as opposed to Data CD. If not, there are plenty of programs out there that will do it, and most have a free trial version. Check out this link...

Thanks Dave. I'll take a better look at that stuff tomorrow if the fog lifts. I had every intention of updating my processor today, but I think I'll go slip into a nice warm coma instead.

Easiest process I know:

1) toss CD in fireplace

One simple step.

^^ Just don't inhale.

Actually, with a Mac, I think writing to a CD is almost automatic. The trick will be telling the OS what format to write it to. But there must be one that will write in a CD-player compatible mode. So try some music first, then do the firmware. HPH

Thanks all. Nero seems to be the most highly recommended SW, so I'm going to give it a try.

I thought it would be a no-brainer on a Mac too, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out on this thing. This software seems to be more geared to downloading MP3s from Apple's Ipod site than anything else.
