That really is how I feel about SUVs. I just wanted to put out a rallying cry and see what the response was. Kind of my own little reality check. I wish I could get folks to crush their SUVs.
Thats about as realistic as asking college kids to quit drinking beer at their partys.
Sorry Bill....but thats how i see it.

Like my mom used to say, "Don't compare yourself to the worst and say 'I'm not as bad,' compare yourself to the best and say 'I'm better.'"
That's a good, sound saying.

This whole gas "thing" is the hot topic. Everyone's talking about it. IT'S JUST ONE THING in the entire environmental spectrum. There are plenty of ways to help out the planet and your fellow man--to focus on one thing (SUV's), which in itself is overblown IMO, is something your mom probably also warned you against.

Off topic--I always liked the idea of "emissions vouchers", which may or may not have been implemented anywhere in the world. The system said that factories had a set amount of vouchers, BUT, they could lower the emissive output and sell their "extra" vouchers to other companies that needed to increase output. Overall vouchers were controlled, and could theoretically be reduced over time.

My truck is a 5 speed 6 cylinder that gets 20mpg +. I really need it to haul stuff to the dump. You want to crush it too?
Yes please. Get a little trailer for your S2000 and take stuff to the dump in that.

Well, think back to when we were kids. There were almost no SUVs in existence and the trucks were mainly 6 cylinder 3 speeds used by the consruction guys. SUV sales have peaked and are in decline. Remember minivans? they were all the rage once too and where are they now? I think the SUV will continue to decline in popularity and will eventually become a small niche vehicle.

College kids drinking beer? No comparisson. That is ingrained human behavior.

My mother said that too. As a matter of fact she used to say the same thing about comparing yourself to the best.

I think there must be a "mother's school" where all future mothers go to learn what to say to their sons.
