Default Chevy Volt price announced

$41,000

BUT you get $7500 from Obama

AND its lease price will be around $350 a month.

Please line up to buy one in an orderly fashion!

One of my concerns with any of the battery operated cars was the warrantee on the batteries. With the 8 year 100K miles makes it better than the gas powered version.

Bill, Since you have the most interest in these I vote you buy one and give a first hand review.

Sure! At $25K maybe. Not at 41. Funny pun, though.

Meh - another expensive GM project the public won't buy. This one funded by our tax dollars.

$41K I hope that is sells well, as I want some of my share of GM back in Uncle Sam's coffers to spend on something else no one needs.

With that stated:

Although he never went into the specifics but when a few of us gathered the night before RC Ryder's Memorial service Tachas (AKA Alan) who is in the automotive field stated (his opinion) that the Volt is a fire / shock hazard in the event of an accident.

He eluded too something about the software that does the battery management. His opinion was that if one were in an accident that one could not escape the car quickly enough to avoid injury.

I stress that it is his opinion and will leave it to him to explain why.

IMHO it looks like a someone mated a Saturn with a Peugeot. Only the French can build a car that ugly.
