No, I am not familiar with it. A very good friend of mine just restored an MGA but he also has a nice Bugeye and was a former Bugeye racer. If fact, he scared the living $hit out of me in the co-pilot seat this past August doing laps with his street car/semi-race car Bugeye at the Waterford Hills race track.
If you are interested I can ask him if he is familiar with it.

nah mostly idle curiosity. SWMBO would kill me.

The engine and transmission swap is fairly common. Our Bugeye has the 1275 but still has the original 4 Speed. The upgrade transmissions are usually the Datsun 5 speed or a Ford 5 speed.
