Have a great voyage, Dean. I’ve only conversed with Dean, unfortunately I've never met him. It's true; Dean was one of the bright spots of this forum and his philosophy, perspectives and comments will be missed.

I offer my condolences to his adoring family.

I'm going to toast him tonight with a glass of wine. Wherever he is, I'm sure he'll raise a glass too. RIP.

I stopped by last week to see him at the house and chatted with him a bit. I offered a 'service' to him: that I could deliver a message of verse or merely an 'act' to anyone he felt needed it ...on his behalf (in kind regards or sheer malice.) We both laughed so hard He did ponder a bit and mentioned a few things in jest He only was able to converse for a few minutes and fell back asleep (heavy bouts of pain and morphine.) I left shortly after and made my way to a local Irish Pub. I was sitting at the outside bar (just me and the bartender) and a 'vintage' couple walked up and sat down beside me. Sure enough, they were from Maine! The husband asked if the food was good and I said yes and the special of the night was the raw bar and AYCE crablegs. They took my advice and were pleased. I mentioned a friend who was from Maine and always boasted about the quality of seafood in that area. They completely agreed.

15 minutes later ... Dean texted me! He apologized for falling asleep on me earlier. I said it's ok ... less culpability that way I mentioned the couple from Maine sitting next to me and he said it was a small world.

I'll share the remainder of our conversation to those I see in person and I'll try to do my best imitation of Dean (not exactly PG rated)

I miss him so much now ... and will much more as these days pass.

What time do you have in mind for the toast, Dean? We could have a toast and communal moment of silence in celebration of his life! Want to give us a time that would work across the country? 6 pm in California would be 9pm in the East. Would that work?
