Did you vote today?

Well it appears that Rob, Charlie and I were part of the minority in NJ, we voted.
Val, what is Kaine's stand on the death penalty, all we heard here was NJ mud.
At least we won't have to hear the NJ attack ads for another 4 years.

^ Kaine is Catholic and is personally against the death penalty. But he said he would abide by VA law and enforce it. Most people bought that.

The constant mud slinging and negative campaigning makes me want to
I have to admit there are times I have not gone out to vote, simply because I could not chose between the lesser of two evils.

If everyone were involved in the process, I think that it would be beneficial to our country.
Tha being said, I do understand how thoughtful, rational people get turned off by the crap that seems to be tossed about in too many elections.

Please don't take this personally, I think that it should be mandatory that all people vote. It's called a right, but it should be a duty, IMHO.

These people running for office know how folks feel about negative campaiging, yet they do it over and over again.

Where we live the only issues on the ballot were bond issues and state constitutional amendments. I was happy with the choices but, I was not happy about the outcomes. Looks like the right wins again.

There were times when I was SO TURNED OFF by the negative ads here in Virginia that I thought of not voting myself. If one does NOT vote one has no reason to complain. I have never found an issue with the bumper stickers that one sees that proclaim: "Don't blame me, I voted for "fill in the blank" "
With that stated, I think that the pundints are making too much of a stink over Kaines win in Virginia. As far as I am concerned, they are completely overlooking the backlash from Kilgore's (Republican) VERY NEGATIVE campaign. I don't think that is has as much to do with a Bush referendum as the left leaning media makes out. Kilgore just pissed most voters off including Barbara who got no less than eight calls from Kilgore supporters hounding us for his votes and bashing Kaine.
As I have previously posted. After visiting both candidates websites I based my decision on why I should vote for a candidate. Not why I should not vote for one. I really think that the lesson to be learned here is how Kilgore's NEGATIVE campaign backfired on him.

[QUOTE=ralper,Nov 8 2005, 04:58 PM] For as long as I can remember most of our elections have been a choice between the least bad candidate rather than the choice of the best candidate.

It is excellent that so many people in Vintage voted. I'd expect no less. I think it important that everyone vote. It's the only power that we have, and if we don't use it, we'll lose it.
