Thumbs up Dining with your +1

I posted this in New England, but since it's slow here, thought I'd add it here as well.

When dining out with only your +1, do you sit on the same side of the booth/table, or across from each other?

I always have thought it weird when people sit on the same side of a booth/table . It's easier to converse with the person if they are across from you, but that's my .02.

We like booths, or tables, we do NOT like to sit in the area of a restaurant where they have a long bench seat, then they place tables in close intervals in front of the seat. It puts us too close to people we don't even know.....that's OK at a car meet, but not for general dining out.

So, if dining out with your honey, what are the seating arrangements?

I sit across from my girlfriend. I have never had her sit right next to me during a dinner date, so I don't know if it would be weird or not.

Only sit side-by-side if the kid is with us.

If we are out with another couple, we'll sit side by side in a booth, or maybe side by side at at table, the rules change with tables and when you add more people to the equation.

One time we were away for a little romantic weekend. The booths in the restaurant of the hotel were very round......we sat next to each other, as it was the most practical way to sit at that table. We saw no need to sit on top of each other...that's why we had a room.

The wife and I usually sit across from each other, now if we are seated in a corner booth we sit together.

Call us weird, but we usually do. I see that so far I'm the only one to say so. We don't do it in a booth but very often we do it at tables. It's much more personal and you can talk easier (lean over and bad mouth other people who sit across from one another )

When the two of us are at a table for four, we usually sit at a 95 degree angle instead of sitting across from each other. It seems easier to talk that way and more intimate to sit closer. Of course at a table for four it is hard to sit side by side without looking weird.

So I'm not sure how to vote in the poll, Lainey

Across from each other all the time. To me sitting next to someone feels weird, it's like your talking to no one. Or your neck hurts from always turning it, we are Vintage you know!
