Default DirecTV vs. Dish

I've been a DirecTV satellite TV customer for many years and subscribe month-to-month, so am no longer under 2-yr. contract.

One of my buddies has Dish Network service and raves about the Hopper DVR and the fact that it has built-in Sling, so he can watch anything he records anywhere at anytime. DirecTV will allow tablet or smart phone viewing of selected items, but not what you personally record on your DVR.

Also, the prices with Dish for comparable programming choices are slightly less than with DirecTV.

I don't which gives better service.

So, I am pondering a move to Dish from DirecTV.

Any advice?

Look at the choice of channels. Years ago, Dish had a few while DirecTV had many. I don't know if that has changed or not.

I've always had Dish in my house. I don't watch much TV but it works. I have their DVR to record the few shows I like so I can watch them later and speed through the commercials. I don't have any advice.

Can't offer any advice since I have cable, but looking forward to hearing pros/cons from others.

We have Direct and have had Dish in the past.. They seem to give the best choice of channels. Also, they have more of the stations that cover College Football. As I am a huge fan this is an important fact. I do like that they have more HD stations. As far as the various packages we stream all our movies and music via the net. On last point and that is reception on Direct seems better.

As far as Hopper goes it is a nice feature but the commercial skipping is only good on regular stations and you have to wait 24 hours before invoking this feature. I think there are some other additional limitations.
