Hey guys,

Looking for a TV + Internet provider and was wondering what everyone had. What were your experiences with Telus, Shaw, or other provider? How do you find their rates, service, etc? Anyone know on any deals going on? Seems like the selection for us Canadians is really poor, and not competitive at all....

selection for TV is pretty bad up here...I do minimum TV plan just to get local news channels and use a higher bandwidth internet. I use Shaw and been with them for the past 13-15 years? Depending on where you live, shaw will yield a faster speed because they have fiber optics in some areas

 

My preference is with Shaw. The Telus interface looks good but I find it is slow to navigate.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I went with Shaw Internet 20 and Basic TV + Best of HD. Not cheaper than Telus (by a little), but from reviews on the internet I've heard Shaw has much better customer service. That and my personal experience with a phone call with Telus where I was bounced around the phone twice for like 10 minutes until I finally got hold of someone who could explain their offers to me.

 

if you've been with shaw for a while you can get a retention plan with them.

I work in the A/V integration & smart home business and if a customer insists on Telus we give them a long list of warnings.

to be honest, Shaw tv is better!, Telus's High Def channel is shaw's standard def

But Telus internet is better than shaws, reason is every customers get their own line , whereas shaws internet is being shared with the neighbours in your area. Your internet with shaw fluctuates depending on how many people uses it in the area.

On the other hand, Telus's internet speed is always consistent at whatever speed you order. The only time its slow is if you have a bunch of people in your house using it at the same time.

Telus uses copper line for phone, Shaw uses digital.

Telus Pros: internet and phone
Cons: TV

Shaws Pros: tv
Cons: internet and phone
