The Lives of Others is a fantastic movie...one of the best I've ever seen. So incredibly well acted and moving. It is really sad that the lead actor died not longer after.

We watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" last night. Scooterboy was right - we didn't have enough tissues around for this film. Beautifully filmed, acted, everything. This is how movies should be made.
Also saw "Up" recently in the theater - one of the second-run theaters that charge $1.50 for a movie, so it was still around to be seen on the big screen. We all liked it a lot. Much better than anticipated. Anika loves the doggie stuff.
At the same theater, we managed to see the new Star Trek film one evening when Anika was having a sleepover at a friend's house (this is the first film we've seen in the theater other than kids films since she was born!). We both loved it. Excellent casting pretty much all around. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can see it again.
And, for Wallace & Gromit fans: the new film "Wallace & Gromit: Loaf and Death" is out on DVD today. (and at the top of my Netflix Queue)

I did find that Up was better than I expected, though. I would like to rent it and watch it again.

Up was good.
Defintely a more mature theme than I was expecting especially going in with a mindset ready for another Cars
Glad I hadn't dragged a 7 yr old to it.

Hmm, to buy the DVD or not to buy the DVD
I have a few movies I own and have watched multiple times. They include Pure Country, Pretty Woman, Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men. Come to think about it, I think they are all on VHS and my thingy won't play VHS.

^ I have a friend like that. Her husband is a stick-in-the-mud and won't go out to movies so she buys what seems popular when it comes out. I was at her house last Monday night and we watched "New In Town". It was my second time but I liked it again. Might have had something to do with meeting Jason and Melinda at S2KCA Days and they are both from Minnesota. Melinda is a sweetheart and funny.
