Discussion on Television Programs
We watched Vera S1E2 again last night (spoiler). Even knowing the outcome it still was a convoluted story. I think the writers were taking acid when they wrote that one. But, we will see what S1E3 brings.
Jeannie spends 10 years in jail for killing Abby. Escapes but does not go to see her ex-lover but instead goes to see her father who has disowned her. Out of the blue we learn she was innocent after she kills herself. Her probation officer just happens to be protecting the real killer – his wife. The ex-cop who convicted her just happens to be the new girl friend of her ex-lover. The probation officer’s son who watched mom kill Abby returns years later to right things and then is killed by his own father; then dad tries to frame Jeannie’s ex-lover who just happened to be Abby’s dad. And while all this is happening we have probation officer’s daughter married to a guy who’s dad got drunk and killed three people, so he changed his name. So one of Abby’s best friends is left knowing both mom and dad are killers, her dad killed her brother, and her husband’s dad was a drunken killer. Have a happy life.
So many twists and turns it has my head spinning. Anyone who could follow all that live and keep track of who was who and who done what to who should be a detective in real life.

I guess DCI Vera did NOT like my review of S1E2. We fired up the TV to watch the next one and it said, sorry - no free ones, we want $6.99 for the next one. Hum, well DCI Vera, see ya latter! So we are watching Up in the Sky movie and mid-way streaming dies. OK, that's enough for one night.
Took your advice and watched Baptiste -- you're correct. It was excellent. Think I'm going to give up tv for a while and start reading again. Read some novellas and a couple of books during the first few weeks of lockdown and have a few more lined up on my kindle.
Lots of shows have had to adapt to the new normal. Some pretty well. Saw today that Live PD, which has been interesting, has been taken off the air. A victim of current circumstances. It was a huge hit on Fri and Sat nights, so you know A&E did not want to do it.
I've watched all the seasons to the end but only because of boredom. I found it interesting in the beginning but it was too over the top for me to say I enjoyed it. I know you like sifi so it may be more to your liking than mine.
Been watching The Crown on NetFlix, about the early years of Queen Elizabeth's reign. Better than I expected. It is supposed to be reasonably faithful to history for the most part. I've learned a few interesting things and find it well acted and produced, and fairly entertaining. There are a lot of "oh, yeah, I remember him/her/when-that-happened moments.

from the start.
