Default Do you avoid graphic images?

I know the footage of Nick Berg's murder is available on the internet, but I won't watch it. Some things you can never erase from your mind--like the images of the Americans killed in Fallujah. I saw those by mistake when I clicked on an internet link to a story about the killings.

Has anyone here watched the footage? I'm not trying to stir up a political debate about why he was murdered--just curious about how you guys feel about images such as these. Do you look at them? Should they be available so easily?

Julie, I don't shy away from graphic images, but I'm not seeking them out either. I heard everything I need to know already about the Berg decapitation.

What a world.

I'm not going to watch it. I knew this would happen. 5 idiots in the US services just changed world opinion against us. Assholes.

I know it's out there. I don't need to watch it to get a graphic sense of what happened. It is appalling.

There was a picture in today's NY Times of 5 hooded men standing and Nick Berg sitting on the floor (before the execution). That is about all I wanted to see.

I have had a very hard time looking at the images from this conflict. All of the images. I find them to be revolting.

I have not seen them but Denise had to for work...she was shocked.

This was an innocent person - regardless of nationality, colour or religion. A bunch of renegade soldiers started this but that did not give the executioners a right to do this. In fact I think this hurt "thier cause".

My view on this is that many in the US and the world were horrified by the action that the renegade soldiers took and they called it exactly that - unacceptable behaviour. NO excuses for that behaviour.

The execution of this innocent man is being hailed as a justified event "by them" instead of the horrible event it actually is. People over there need to start realizing murdering an innocent is NOT justified under ANY circumstances and act accordingly. How this helps "thier cause" is beyond me....

I just hope that children are not being "taught" that this type of behaviour is acceptable....or we loose another generation.

I agree with the above posts. I have no desire to visit the web site that shows such a horrific act.

I don't know Julie. On the one hand, I don't want to see it. On the other hand, I wonder if I don't have an obligation to see what happened to a fellow American. He had to experience it first hand. Should I avoid it on the grounds that I don't "need" or "want" to see it?

The so-called "justification" for this torture/execution is nothing but a transparent excuse by terrorists looking for a way to gain political power. I feel pretty confident that the knife weilder doesn't give a care about the abuse in the Iraqi prisons. I won't dignify this slaughter by linking the two issues.
