I replied with "Sometimes, but those keys are really small", it was the closest answer that fit. I have no problem with the key size, nor in the ability to tyoe the message out quickly, I just don't do it often because my phone plan has an extra upcharge for text messaging, and I'm all about keeping my cell bill as small as I can.

I got a text message yesterday and it was not from a pal. It was some kind of sales/marketing pitch.

I called the cell phone company and the VERY nice customer service person said we could try a block on that type of message. Works for me, as I "pay as I use" for text messages on my cell phone. I don't want to spend money getting messages from people I don't know.

I could block ALL text messages, but on occasion, I do get text messages from some really nice people and I don't want to block those, as those messages make me smile.

So we tried a partial block, and we'll see what happens.

The cell phone company also applied a credit on my bill which will cover several text messages, just in case the partial block is not enough.

If I keep getting sales/marketing text messages, I guess I'll put a block of all text messages....

I had to buy a new cell phone . After about an hour the service text messaged a welcome and now every so often I get some sort of sales/advertsing messaged on my phone. I'm not very good at texting. It just takes me such a long time to get a message typed in and yet I can type really fast on the computer.

My students, on the other hand, type faster on their phones then they do on a computer. It's simply amazing seeing their thumbs fly over the phone keys. They can't seem to memorize math formulas for squat, but they sure as heck can memorize shortcuts in text messaging. go figure
