Thumbs up Do you send text messages?

I got not one, but two text messages, on my cell phone this weekend from some very special people. I decided to "get with the program" and reply with a text message vs calling.

It took me forever. The keys on the cell phone are small, I don't know the "lingo" to shorten words, though I do know, C (See) U (you) soon

So, do you "text" at all?

Not even sure my cell plan covers those messages I sent.......

Of course I send text messages. I call them "emails". And very occasionally, "letters".

No, I've never seen the purpose in it. A simple phone call is much easier and quicker. And there's no record of what I said to be held against me at a later date in a court of law.

You sure about that? The Patriot Act is pretty broad after all.

I don't text but apparently my cell number is very similar to one that a certain Gina gets confused about from time to time. I know more about her life than I care to.

There wouldn't be much for DHS to listen to, I use only about five minutes of my cell time per month. And most of that is from answering wrong numbers. Gina's never called me, though.

I send family members "picturemail" from my cell phone almost daily. Press one button on the cameraphone to take a picture, tap to attach it to a short email, then type a few sentences. Takes about 15 seconds to update them on the silly things that happen in my day.

The advantage is like email, if they're not doing anything, they can respond. If not, they can check it at the end of their day.

If you have a keyboard on the phone, it's not bad.

If you have T9 abbreviations, it's actually very quick to use a standard phone keypad to send messages.

No cell phone for me ( the cell service here in the Adirondacs is spotty at best)though my wife has one and uses that feature quite a bit with her buisness.

Actually, this weekend was the first time. Phil told me how to do it. I didn't know that all you need is the person's phone number, though it makes sense when you think about it. It was just too late to call, so I gave it a shot.

I don't intend to use text messages much - each one costs me 10 cents, and a phone call is usually far more efficient. Those darn keypads stink for texting...

I also got one back today. Only the second non-spam message I've received ever.

Lainey!
