We have this tiny bakery called Jill's here, and you have to order what you want the day before. I go for the glazed twists that are 10 inches long. +1 and the grandkids like the the choco coverned, Bavarian filled Long Johns the length of my shoe. Disgustingly good at a $1.10 each.

What was notable about it was that you just told the person at the register what you ate. You did not get a bill. I have a feeling this would not work today!

Matt and I eat breakfast often at a restaurant not far from us. It is called the Vienna Inn. (google it) You do just that .... tell them what you ate and pay the total. Now the total bill often depends on who is ringing it up but hey, it's still a bargain and the place has lots of character!

Everything in Moderation, and that includes donuts. Your stomach doesn't know the difference between a donut or a banana or a beer; afterall, it's all about total calories per day.
True, but my stomach feels better after a banana than a donut.

Actually Lainey Lard is not a trans fat. it's just good old fashioned rendered pig fat. Think of it as a 'natural' product.

.
Thanks for the info, Jerry. I'm still not cooking with lard, even if it is "natural."

Hey when my Dad was a kid, and poor, lard and sugar and bread made a sandwich.

Gee. You are reminding me of the days when we would have goose grease on bread for breakfast. Pretty good with a little ketchup on it.
