Rob,
I had a silver 2001 Civic EX Coupe before I traded it in for my S. Your mention of body roll is what my wife and my son didn't like. With my S, neither of them mention that. I appreciate your review of RSX-S as I too like that model a great deal. What concerns me is the body lean but I imagine automatic will take care of the shifter problem. Good review!

The body lean wasn't all that bad, just more than I expected. I think that those of us who own S2000 develop very high levels of expectations for cars.
I certainly wasn't put off by it, and I wouldn't let it stop me from buying. You should test drive one and see for yourself.

That is an excellent point! I will remember that!

Rob -
I would like to give my personal take on the RSX Type S as a daily driver compared to the S2000 and 350Z both of which I had as a daily driver for 2.5 years each.
Cabin noise - This somewhat baffles me. Are you talking about normal daily driving or vtec like driving? To me the RSX is quieter in both areas.
Tranny - When I first got my RSX I was also disappointed in the shifter. I knew it would be different since it is FWD and uses linkage but it somehow didn't seem right. After a couple of weeks I thought it was the easiest car to drive I had ever owned. It just takes a little getting used to. I actually preferred the 350Z to the S2000 as mine was notchy in 1-2 and 2-3.
Handling - The S2000 has no equal in the twisties but to me was a little twitchy in high speed cornering whereas the 350Z felt more planted. The RSX is somewhat of a disappointment in all areas of handling. Not bad - but just not as good as I was expecting.
Seats - I don't have a problem with the seats but they are certainly not as good as the S2000.
Overall - For a daily driver I think the RSX is hard to beat. It is fun and easy to drive and gets good gas mileage. Also although no one on this board would be caught dead doing it you can use regular gas without any loss of power or mpg.

Jim,
For the most part we are in complete agreement. I too think that the shifter is simply something that takes a bit of getting used to. Overall, I think the car is a very good, fun daily driver.
I think the cabin noise was so loud because I was pushing the car hard. That's why I feel that I have to take another test drive. I suspect the cabin noise won't be such a problem daily.
In general, I really like the car.

I agree about the tires, but since I'm going to be using it as a daily driver I'll probably keep the OEM tires. I'll probably run them at 34 lbs instead of 32. It seems to make a great deal of difference on my TL-S, and I like the way it feels.

Rob,
I am constantly amazed that the "S" will do just about anything that one expects of it. Today, while out running errands I gassed it to get out in front of traffic after making a "right turn on red". Then, about three hundred yards ahead the light was red. I just backed off the gas, and coasted to the light not having to apply the brakes until I was approaching the intersection at about 10 MPH.
The fact that at 55 MPH one can have the flexibility of being in anyone of four gears depending on the circumstances and the amount of "control" involved is amazing.
After driving an S2000 where does one go from there, in that price range?

Rob, I don't agree this method of finding a new car. It seems you are just continuing to test drive the same car and compare it with the car you are trading in. What is the point? To test drive the RSX until you get used to its shortcomings?
Rather than rationalizing yourself into the RSX, try a few other cars. If the RSX is the right car, the other cars will talk you into it. After all, the TL doesn't need to be replaced. Take your time with this. Even if you have to have a Honda, you might like the TSX better than the RSX.
